You know that stretch on Silver Beach Road where every evening the ice carts and chaat stalls do brisk business while people walk off their dinner on the sand? We want a dessert shop in Cuddalore that becomes that same kind of evening habit — one more reason to stop before heading home, not instead of your usual nungu or rose milk. Right now the town has plenty of good bakeries and ice-cream counters, but nobody doing a full dessert menu — waffles, thick shakes, sundaes — under one roof.
Cuddalore's heat doesn't let up — that salty breeze off the Bay of Bengal keeps things humid rather than cool, and anyone who's lived here knows the afternoon ritual: a glass of nungu from a roadside cart, or chilled rose milk on the way back from work. Add to that a working town that never really switches off — company buses ferrying shift workers to and from the SIPCOT chemical belt and the port at odd hours, lorries queuing near Cuddalore Port Junction, buses pulling into the Main Bus Stand round the clock — and you get a town where people are out and about, hungry for something cold, at almost any hour. In Cuddalore too, a dessert isn't saved for birthdays — it's grabbed on a random Tuesday evening, same as anywhere else.
Think about who's moving through town on any given evening. Students from St. Joseph's College on St. Joseph's Road, Krishnasamy College on Nellikuppam Main Road and Periyar Arts College in Devanampattinam spill out in groups once classes end, looking for somewhere to sit before their bus comes. Young staff from the SIPCOT estate and the port area head home past Thirupapuliyur and the Pondicherry-Cuddalore Road, with an hour to spare before the next shift. Families walk the sands at Silver Beach on weekend evenings and need a reason to linger a bit longer. And every weekend, V Square Mall pulls in a steady stream of people from Cuddalore and the villages around it, out for a film and a meal. That's a wide, steady crowd — not one niche group.
We looked at what's already open across Cuddalore — ice-cream parlours, bakeries, cake shops, one milkshake-and-falooda café. There's real demand: several individual outlets carry well over a hundred Google reviews each, and the single busiest one has crossed eleven hundred. People here are clearly paying for sweet and cold treats, often. But look closer and the gaps show. Only a handful of places even attempt waffles, and none of them has built up much of a review history yet. Nobody runs bubble tea as a proper, dedicated item — what you find instead are general tea stalls. And nobody we found combines waffles, thick shakes, sundaes, brownies and hot chocolate under one sit-down roof the way a full dessert outlet would. A Tasty Nation counter also has almost no food waste — one less thing to worry about while you're building a new habit in town.
A few stretches of town stood out to us as we walked through the data:
Cuddalore gives you both options. Inside V Square Mall's food court, a compact counter rides the ready-made footfall from the cinema and shopping crowd — run the way our Vivira Mall counter in Chennai works. Out on Silver Beach Road or near the bus stand, a standalone outlet gives you more room and a longer evening — the way our first outlet at Kay Food Street runs. Either way, the training is identical: two days, hands-on, at our Chennai outlets, covering every recipe and process. You don't need to have run a shop before, or even worked in a kitchen — the two days are built for exactly that.
Every recipe and every process is documented and taught to you hands-on, at our Chennai outlets, before Cuddalore sees its first waffle. After that we stay involved — from sourcing ingredients to the marketing materials you'll use to get the first regulars in. The steps are simple: you tell us you're interested, we get on a discovery call, we evaluate the Cuddalore site you have in mind, and then we move to setup and training together.
No — we don't have one yet. That's exactly why we're looking for a franchise partner in the town.
Either works — a mall food-court counter like our Vivira Mall format, or a standalone outlet like Kay Food Street. We help you decide after seeing your site.
Yes. Training is two days, hands-on, at our Chennai outlets, and anyone can run the counter after that — no prior food, kitchen or business experience needed.
The recipes and process taught to you are the same ones used at our Chennai outlets; day-to-day item availability is set at the outlet level.
That's fine — tell us the areas you're considering, such as V Square Mall, Silver Beach Road or near the bus stand, and we'll evaluate during the discovery call.
We are Tasty Nation, a 100% vegetarian dessert brand from Chennai. Belgian waffles, thickshakes, sundaes, boba shakes, pancakes, brownies and hot chocolate: 85+ items on one menu.
