We're looking for a franchise partner to open Tasty Nation in Ariyalur. You know the stretch of College Road past the new Government Medical College — hundreds of MBBS students, their visiting families and hostel staff cross that road every single evening, and the one shop doing bubble tea properly there is barely bigger than a shop-front, always packed. That's the kind of gap a dessert counter like ours is built for.
Ariyalur used to be the town you passed through on the way to Thanjavur or Trichy. That's changing. A government medical college opened near Kamarajar Nagar a few years back, and it now trains about 150 new doctors a year with hostel beds for 500 students — that's 500 young people living away from home, craving something sweet after a long day on the wards. Add the Government Arts College on the Rajajinagar main road, four engineering colleges and half a dozen more arts and science colleges scattered around town, and Ariyalur has a student crowd it never had before.
Underneath all that, this is still a Dalmia Cement town — one of the bigger cement plants in the state runs out of Thamaraikulam just outside town, and its staff and their families have steady pay cheques and nowhere premium to spend an evening together. Put students with pocket money and families with salaries in the same small town, and a dessert is what both of them reach for.
Think about who actually passes a shop on Market Street or near the bus stand on any given evening. There's the crowd getting off a bus from Trichy or Thanjavur, tired and looking for something cold before the auto ride home. There are MBBS students who've finished rounds and want fifteen minutes away from the hostel mess. There are Arts College students who already linger at the tea shop right at the college gate because it's the only hangout close by. And there are cement company families who drive into town on a Sunday evening because there's genuinely nowhere else to go together.
In Ariyalur, like everywhere else, a dessert isn't a once-a-year treat. It's what a student grabs between classes, what a family orders after a temple visit, what a tired bus traveller wants before heading home. That everyday pull is exactly what a Tasty Nation counter is built to catch.
We looked at what Ariyalur already has for something sweet and cold. There are solid, well-loved sweet shops around town — one on Chinna Kadai Street has over 1,400 Google reviews and a loyal following for cakes and snacks, and a couple of bakeries near the Arts College pull in good crowds too. But look closer and the gaps show. The one proper bubble tea and shake counter in town, on College Road, holds a near-perfect rating but barely four dozen reviews — clearly loved, but small and alone. The town's best-known ice cream counter, near the stadium, sits at a 3.4 rating with people complaining about service, not taste. Nobody in Ariyalur is doing Belgian waffles, sundaes and thickshakes as the main business, all under one roof, every day of the week. That's the opening.
A few stretches of town already pull the crowd you'd want walking past your counter:
Ariyalur doesn't have a mall yet, so this isn't a food-court counter — it's a standalone outlet, run the way our Kay Food Street shop in Chennai runs: a proper counter, seating, and a menu people come back for. A spot on a main road with parking, like the bypass or Market Street, or a tight corner near a college gate that's always busy — both work, as long as people are already walking or driving past.
Training takes two days, hands-on at our Chennai outlets, and that's it — you don't need any food, kitchen or retail experience before you start. We hand over every recipe and process, help with ingredient sourcing, and give you marketing material once you're open. One more thing worth knowing: food waste is one of the biggest problems in the food business, and a Tasty Nation counter runs with almost no waste.
From there it's a simple path — you reach out, we get on a discovery call, we look at the site together, and we train you before you open.
Yes — between the Government Medical College's 500 hostel residents, the Arts College crowd, Dalmia Cement families and the daily bus-stand traffic, there's a steady flow of people looking for something sweet, especially in the evenings.
Ariyalur doesn't have a mall yet, so every franchise here would be a standalone outlet on a busy street or junction.
No. Training takes two days at our Chennai outlets, and you follow our recipes and process from day one — no previous food, kitchen or business experience needed.
Both work. College Road near the Government Medical College has a steady young crowd every evening, and the Market Street/bus stand area has daily foot traffic — tell us what site you have access to and we'll evaluate it on the call.
Not one doing Belgian waffles, sundaes and thickshakes as the main business — the current bubble tea and ice cream spots in town are small or inconsistently rated, which is the gap we're looking to fill.
We are Tasty Nation, a 100% vegetarian dessert brand from Chennai. Belgian waffles, thickshakes, sundaes, boba shakes, pancakes, brownies and hot chocolate: 85+ items on one menu. We opened at Kay Food Street, Pallikaranai in December 2023, and today we also run a food-court counter at Vivira Mall on OMR. Same recipes, two very different formats, so we can tell you honestly what each one is like to run. Tasty Nation® is a registered trademark (Licence No. 6368235).
