Tasty Nation desserts

Every bus running south from Chennai to Trichy, Madurai or beyond has to stop at your New Bus Stand — that's just how the map works. Thousands of people pass through Villupuram on an ordinary day, and on Nehruji Road and Trichy Main Road you can already see the bakery and ice-cream queues on a warm evening. What the town doesn't have yet is one proper dessert place that does every item well instead of one item as a side order. We're looking for a franchise partner here who wants to fix that.

Your Town Has the Crowd, Just Not the Dessert Spot

Think about where you'd actually take someone for a dessert in Villupuram right now. A bakery counter, maybe, or an ice-cream parlour on Hospital Road near the New Bus Stand signal. Nehruji Road and the old bus stand area around Poonthotta Kulam are busy from morning to midnight with people stepping off a bus, finishing a shift, or walking back from Trichy Main Road after shopping. Add in the students who come into town every day from University College of Engineering, IFET College of Engineering, Mailam Engineering College and the arts and science colleges around Villupuram, and you have a steady stream of young people with a few hundred rupees to spend on something sweet before they catch their bus home. Villupuram is a junction town — Villupuram Junction railway station is a major stop on the Chennai–Trichy line, and the town sits where NH45 and NH66 cross. People pass through here constantly. Right now, that crowd eats a bakery snack or an ice-cream scoop and moves on. Nobody has given them a reason to sit down for a proper dessert.

Who's Actually Walking Past Every Day

Picture the 6 pm crowd outside the bus stand — college students waiting for their bus home, families who came into town for shopping on Trichy Main Road, and office staff from the shops and government offices around the collectorate finishing their day. Add the travellers who break their Chennai-to-south journey here, and the weekend visitors heading to Gingee Fort or Thiruvakkarai Fossil Park who pass straight through Villupuram town on the way. None of them are looking for a five-course meal. They want something sweet, quick, and worth the stop.

What the Town Itself Is Already Telling You

We looked at what people in Villupuram actually search for and visit. Bakeries that also sell cakes and ice creams pull thousands of reviews — two separate bakery counters in town have crossed 2,000 Google reviews each at a 4.7 rating, which only happens when a huge number of people walk in every month. A single ice-cream parlour on Hospital Road has over 600 reviews at 4.5, with people directing friends to it by the HP petrol bunk near the New Bus Stand signal rather than any address. But search for a waffle place or a boba tea shop inside Villupuram town itself, and you come up almost empty — the closest proper boba and waffle counters we found were in Pondicherry and near VIT in Vellore, not here. That's the gap: Villupuram already proves people will queue for a bakery or an ice-cream counter, but nobody has opened a place that treats waffles, shakes, sundaes and boba with the same seriousness. Add the Tindivanam SIPCOT industrial estate just down the road, with its auto-component, textile and food-processing units bringing in working families, and the pilgrim and tourist flow through Gingee, Thiruvakkarai and Melmalayanur, and the case for a real dessert destination in Villupuram gets stronger, not weaker.

Where in Villupuram We're Thinking

These are the stretches of town where the footfall already exists — the right exact site gets decided together on the call.

  • Nehruji Road, near the New Bus Stand signal (standalone outlet): commuters, students and families on their way to or from the bus stand, busy from morning till late night. the town's main commercial stretch, already home to the busiest bakery and ice-cream counters in Villupuram
  • Trichy Main Road, near the old bus stand and Poonthotta Kulam (standalone outlet): shoppers and office staff through the day, families in the evening. one of Villupuram's two busiest shopping streets, with steady foot traffic from the old bus stand area
  • Hospital Road / Selva Nagar, near the New Bus Stand signal (standalone outlet): families stopping for a treat on the way home, the Vandimedu locality crowd. already proven ice-cream territory — the existing parlour here draws hundreds of reviews from people giving directions by the petrol bunk, not an address
  • Ellis Chathiram Road food court area (mall/food-court counter): families with children on weekend evenings, groups watching a match on the big screen. Villupuram's established multi-stall food court, built exactly for a quick-service counter

Two Ways to Do This, Both Already Running in Chennai

We run two formats today, and either could work for Villupuram. A standalone outlet is a full dessert counter and seating area, run the way our Kay Food Street outlet in Chennai has operated since December 2023 — suited to a street-facing spot on Nehruji Road or Trichy Main Road where people are already walking past all evening. A mall or food-court counter is a smaller, compact setup built for quick service inside a shared food-court footfall, the way our Vivira Mall counter runs. Which one fits Villupuram depends on the exact site, and we'll talk that through on the call.

Who We're Looking For

  • Someone who actually knows Villupuram — which street gets busy at 6 pm and which one empties out by 9
  • Can be at the counter every single day, not just drop in on weekends
  • Genuinely likes talking to people — students, families, the regular who comes back every week
  • Has a site or a clear plan for one on a road like Nehruji Road, Trichy Main Road, or a spot near the bus stand or a college zone
  • Willing to follow our recipes and standards exactly — no previous food, kitchen or business experience needed

What You Get, Start to Finish

You don't need to have run a shop before. Training takes just two days, taught hands-on at our own Chennai outlets, and covers every recipe and process we use. After that, support doesn't stop — we help with everything from ingredient sourcing to marketing materials, the same backing we give our own two Chennai outlets. One thing that helps any outlet, including one in a town like Villupuram with a constant stream of passing customers: a Tasty Nation outlet runs with almost no food waste, which is one of the biggest headaches in this business elsewhere. And because every single item on our menu is made to be someone's favourite, not just one hero dessert, there's always something for the student rushing to catch a bus and something for the family that came in to sit down.

Questions about a franchise in Villupuram

Is a town like Villupuram really big enough for a dedicated dessert brand?

Villupuram is a railway junction and highway town where buses from Chennai to the whole south have to stop, plus a cluster of engineering and arts colleges feeding students into town every day. The existing bakery and ice-cream counters already pull thousands of reviews between them — the demand is visibly there.

I've never run a food business. Can I still do this?

Yes. Training takes two days at our Chennai outlets and covers every recipe and process. No previous food, kitchen or business experience is needed.

Standalone outlet or a food-court counter — which suits Villupuram?

Both formats are already running in Chennai. Which one fits your site in Villupuram — Nehruji Road, Trichy Main Road, or the Ellis Chathiram Road food court — is something we work out together on the discovery call.

Will people from outside Villupuram town, like Tindivanam or Gingee, also come?

Villupuram sits on NH45/NH66 and the Chennai–Trichy rail line, so a steady stream of travellers, SIPCOT industrial staff and visitors heading to Gingee Fort or Thiruvakkarai already pass through town.

How do I actually get started?

Message us on WhatsApp through this page. We'll set up a discovery call, then a site evaluation for your spot in Villupuram, followed by setup and training.

Who we are

We are Tasty Nation, a 100% vegetarian dessert brand from Chennai. Belgian waffles, thickshakes, sundaes, boba shakes, pancakes, brownies and hot chocolate: 85+ items on one menu. We opened at Kay Food Street, Pallikaranai in December 2023, and today we also run a food-court counter at Vivira Mall on OMR. Same recipes, two very different formats, so we can tell you honestly what each one is like to run. Tasty Nation® is a registered trademark (Licence No. 6368235). More about our franchise programme · see the menu.

Why a dessert outlet, and why you can do it

  • People love sweet desserts. A waffle or a thickshake is an everyday treat for every age in Villupuram, not something saved for a festival.
  • Almost no waste. Food waste is one of the biggest problems in the food business. A Tasty Nation outlet has almost none.
  • Just 2 days of training. You, or anyone you hire, can start working after two days with us. No previous food, kitchen or business experience needed.
