Tasty Nation desserts

Stand at Swastik Circle any evening and watch the money move — turmeric traders closing the day's auction, powerloom workers heading home with their wages, shops on Perundurai Road still ringing up sales past nine. Erode has real spending power moving through it every day, yet if a family wants a proper dessert outing — waffles, a thick shake, bubble tea, a brownie — they end up hopping between three or four small, single-item shops to get it. We're looking for one person from Erode who wants to turn some of that evening money into a single dessert counter people actually plan their outing around.

Erode spends. Dessert hasn't caught up.

You already know this if you've ever tried to find parking near Manikoondu after 7pm — Erode isn't a sleepy district town, it's a trading town. The turmeric auctions at the Semmampalayam yard move more turmeric than almost anywhere else in India except Nizamabad, the powerloom and garment units along Perundurai Road and inside the Perundurai SIPCOT estate put real cash in thousands of pockets every week, and Texvalley's Global Market alone has around 1,600 shops doing business on the Salem–Kochi bypass. That's money that wants somewhere to go on a Saturday evening. Right now it mostly goes into sarees, cloth and turmeric sacks — not into a dessert outing, because there isn't yet one clean, air-conditioned place in town that does every dessert well.

Who actually walks in — and why they're already buying cold and sweet

Think about who you'd actually see. Students streaming out of Vellalar College, Kongu Engineering College in Perundurai, Erode Sengunthar Engineering College at Thuduppathi, or Erode Arts and Science College — thousands of them, every single afternoon, looking for somewhere to sit before the bus. Staff from the SIPCOT units who finish a shift and want something before heading home. Families who've just climbed down the 150 steps from Thindal Murugan Temple on a Sunday evening, hot and in the mood for something cold. In Erode, that 'something cold and sweet' isn't a once-in-a-blue-moon treat — the heat here makes it a daily habit for every age, from the kid finishing tuition to the grandmother waiting at the bus stand. That's the audience: not a niche, practically the whole town on a hot afternoon.

What the gap actually looks like

We looked at what Erode already searches for on Google Maps. One bakery near Sampath Nagar alone has crossed 3,300 reviews at a 4.9 rating — that alone tells you how much this town already queues up for a good dessert. But look closer at the categories: across five different waffle counters we checked around town, not one has crossed 200 reviews, meaning each is a small, single-counter operation. Search for bubble tea and most results are general tea and juice stalls with a side of boba, not a shop built around it. There's clear demand for ice cream, cakes and shakes everywhere, but no single place carries waffles, thickshakes, boba, sundaes, brownies and hot chocolate on one menu. On the running side, this format is a genuinely clean business — food waste is one of the biggest headaches in the food trade, and a counter like this has almost none of it.

Where this would actually work

You know these stretches better than we do, but here's where we'd start looking.

  • Perundurai Road, near Reliance Mall and Teachers Colony (standalone outlet): Families heading to or from Reliance Mall, the evening walking and shopping crowd. Already the town's busiest evening stretch for small dessert and shake shops — proof people come here looking for exactly this.
  • Reliance Mall, Perundurai Road, near the Collector Office (mall food-court counter): Weekend mall shoppers and movie-goers, families out for a few hours. One of Erode's few indoor mall spaces, with footfall already built in.
  • Around the Central Bus Terminus, Swastik Circle (standalone outlet): Part of the terminus's daily crowd moving between Mettur Road and Sathy Road. A transit crowd that's already stopping for tea and snacks between buses.
  • Perundurai town, near Kongu Engineering College and the SIPCOT estate (standalone outlet): College students plus SIPCOT factory and office staff. A captive student and working crowd about 18 km out, with its own evening rhythm separate from Erode town.
  • Thindal, near Vellalar College for Women and the Thindal Murugan Temple hillock (standalone outlet): College students by day, temple families on weekends and festival evenings. Two different crowds — students and temple visitors — passing the same stretch at different times of day.

Standalone shop or mall counter — both exist here

Tasty Nation runs two proven formats. One is a standalone outlet like our Kay Food Street shop in Chennai — your own space, full menu, people sitting down with waffles and shakes. The other is a compact mall or food-court counter, like our Vivira Mall setup — smaller footprint, quicker service. Erode has real spots for both: a standalone shop would suit a stretch like Perundurai Road or near the bus terminus, while a counter format suits a mall crowd. Which one makes sense depends on the site you can access, and that's exactly what the discovery call and site evaluation are for.

Who we're hoping finds this page

  • Someone who actually knows Erode — which street gets busy at 7pm and which one empties out by 9
  • Someone who can be at the counter themselves, every single day, not just on weekends
  • Someone who likes talking to people — a dessert counter runs on regulars who keep coming back
  • Someone with access to a site, or at least a real plan for one, on a stretch like Perundurai Road, near Reliance Mall, or close to a college or the bus terminus
  • Someone willing to follow our recipes and process exactly as taught — consistency is what keeps customers coming back

You don't need to have run a shop before. We're not asking for food, kitchen or retail experience — most people who run a counter well are simply local, present, and willing to learn.

What you get from us once you say yes

We hand over every recipe and process, taught hands-on at our own outlets in Chennai — and that training takes just two days. That's genuinely it: two days, and you're ready to run the counter yourself, whatever your background. After that we stay involved, from sourcing ingredients to the marketing materials you put up locally. The path from here is simple: you enquire, we get on a discovery call, we evaluate the site you have in mind, and then we set up and train together before you open in Erode.

Questions about a franchise in Erode

Do I need any experience running a food business in Erode?

No. Training takes two days at our Chennai outlets, and that's enough to run the counter — we're not asking for prior food, kitchen or business experience.

Should I look at a standalone shop or a mall counter?

Both formats exist and work — it depends on the site you can access. A spot on Perundurai Road suits a standalone outlet; a mall space like Reliance Mall suits our compact food-court counter. We figure out which fits during the site evaluation.

Is the menu the same as the Chennai outlets?

The core menu travels, though our two Chennai outlets already carry slightly different items — the exact list for Erode gets finalised during setup and training.

I already run a shop on Perundurai Road or near the bus stand — can I add this there?

That's exactly the kind of local access we're looking for. Bring it up on the discovery call and we'll work out if the site fits.

How do I start?

Message us on WhatsApp through this page — that starts the discovery call, then site evaluation, then setup and training.

Who we are

We are Tasty Nation, a 100% vegetarian dessert brand from Chennai. Belgian waffles, thickshakes, sundaes, boba shakes, pancakes, brownies and hot chocolate: 85+ items on one menu. We opened at Kay Food Street, Pallikaranai in December 2023, and today we also run a food-court counter at Vivira Mall on OMR. Same recipes, two very different formats, so we can tell you honestly what each one is like to run. Tasty Nation® is a registered trademark (Licence No. 6368235). Why a dessert outlet, and why you can do it

  • People love sweet desserts. A waffle or a thickshake is an everyday treat for every age in Erode, not something saved for a festival.
  • Almost no waste. Food waste is one of the biggest problems in the food business. A Tasty Nation outlet has almost none.
  • Just 2 days of training. You, or anyone you hire, can start working after two days with us. No previous food, kitchen or business experience needed.
