Tasty Nation desserts

We're looking for a franchise partner in Sivaganga, and we keep coming back to Aranmanai Vaasal for why. Every shop in the old town still gives directions off that palace gate, and by evening the lanes around it and the Madurai Mukku bus stand are full of people with nowhere urgent to be — walking, waiting for a bus, splitting a plate of something sweet. That's the crowd we want to put a Tasty Nation counter in front of.

Why we're looking here, not somewhere else

Sivaganga isn't a town that needs convincing about dessert — it's already buying it every single day. Walk down Nehru Bazaar after dark and you'll pass sweet shops that have been there since your grandfather's time, still packed. Search for a dessert shop in town on Google Maps and five come up, averaging close to a 4.6 rating across roughly a thousand reviews between them — that's not people being polite, that's people going back for more. The bakeries alone carry over 1,100 reviews combined, more than any other kind of food shop we checked in town. In Sivaganga too, a dessert isn't a once-a-year treat. It's what you grab on the way from the bus stand, what you order for a nephew's birthday, what you and your friends split after a movie. That habit is already here. What isn't here yet is one place that does every kind of dessert well — waffles, thickshakes, boba, sundaes — instead of just one thing.

Who you'd actually be serving

Think about who passes through Madurai Mukku on an average evening: students walking out of the government arts college nearby, families who just got off a bus from Karaikudi or Madurai, shopkeepers closing up for the night. Add the ones who come into town only on weekends — families heading out to Kalaiyar Kovil or toward Pillayarpatti for the Karpaga Vinayagar temple, and stopping in town on the way back, hungry and a little tired from the drive. None of them are looking for a full meal at that point. They're looking for something cold, something sweet, somewhere to sit for twenty minutes before the next bus.

What's missing from the sweet side of town

Everything we found on Google Maps backs this up. Ice-cream counters in town average close to a 4.7 rating, with reviewers talking about scooping fast before it melts in the heat — that's a town that eats dessert even when it's uncomfortable to. But run a search for a bubble tea or boba counter inside Sivaganga and nothing in town comes up. Search for a waffle shop and the nearest named ones Google points to are in Madurai and Kovilpatti, not here — one ice-cream counter in town does list a chocolate waffle as a side item, but nobody has built a proper menu around it. Milkshakes show up the same way, as one line on someone else's menu, not a destination of their own. That's the gap: Sivaganga already spends on sweet and cold, it just doesn't have one place that takes it seriously. And the part that usually scares a first-time food owner — spoilage, unsold stock going to waste — is close to a non-issue in how a Tasty Nation outlet runs; food waste is one of the biggest problems in this business everywhere else, and ours barely has any.

Where we'd start looking

These are the spots in Sivaganga we'd want a partner to already know well, or be ready to go stand in for an evening and watch.

  • Aranmanai Vaasal / N Raja Street (standalone outlet): all-day footfall around the old palace gate — the main shopping and walking crowd of the old town. every address in the old town is still given off this stretch; it's the town's own centre
  • Madurai Mukku bus stand junction (standalone outlet): students, bus travellers and evening commuters passing through. the junction already supports more than one ice-cream counter doing steady business
  • Nehru Bazaar (standalone outlet): night-market shoppers and families out after dinner. decades-old sweet shops here prove people already walk this lane after dark looking for something sweet
  • Subramaniapuram, near the organised retail stretch (mall/food-court counter): families doing their weekly shopping. the closest thing the town has to organised retail footfall, good for a compact counter

Standalone shop or a counter — both work here

Tasty Nation runs on two formats and either could work in Sivaganga. A standalone outlet near Aranmanai Vaasal or the bus stand gives you full seating for the evening crowd that wants to sit and talk. A smaller mall or food-court style counter, closer to Subramaniapuram, suits the quicker, in-and-out shopping crowd. Which one fits depends on the exact site you can get — that's exactly what the discovery call and site visit are for.

Who we're looking for

  • Someone who already knows Sivaganga — which lane gets crowded on a Friday night, which junction has the real footfall
  • Can be at the counter every day, not just checking in once a week
  • Genuinely likes talking to people — regulars, students, families with kids in tow
  • Has a site in mind around Aranmanai Vaasal, Madurai Mukku, Nehru Bazaar or Subramaniapuram, or is actively looking for one
  • Willing to follow our recipes and standards exactly — no previous food, kitchen or business experience needed

What we hand you before day one

You don't need to have run a shop before. Training is just two days, hands-on at our Chennai outlets, and that's enough to have you working the counter confidently. After that we stay involved — recipes and processes you can lean on exactly as they are, help sourcing ingredients, marketing materials for the opening, and support that carries on past launch. The steps from here are simple: you reach out, we get on a call, we look at your site together, and then we set up and train.

Questions about a franchise in Sivaganga

Is Sivaganga really big enough for a dessert brand, or is it only Madurai and Karaikudi that matter around here?

Sivaganga has its own daily footfall — around the bus stand, the colleges and the old town shops — that doesn't need Madurai or Karaikudi to survive. The dessert habit we found on Google Maps is already local, not borrowed from the bigger towns nearby.

Which part of town should I be looking at for a site?

Aranmanai Vaasal, the Madurai Mukku bus stand junction, Nehru Bazaar and the Subramaniapuram area near the organised retail stretch are where we'd start — each draws a different crowd at a different time of day.

I've never run a food business. Can I still do this?

Yes. Training is two days, hands-on at our Chennai outlets, and no previous food, kitchen or business experience is needed — you follow our recipes and process exactly as taught.

Do college students in a town this size actually spend on desserts regularly?

The students, bus travellers and families around the Madurai Mukku junction already support more than one ice-cream counter there — that everyday habit is what a Tasty Nation outlet would be stepping into.

Should I open a full outlet or a smaller counter?

Both formats exist — a standalone outlet for a sit-down evening crowd, or a compact mall/food-court counter for quicker footfall. We figure out which suits your site on the discovery call.

What about weekends — does the temple crowd from Kalaiyar Kovil or Pillayarpatti matter?

Families heading to or from those temples pass through Sivaganga town and are exactly the kind of weekend crowd who'd stop for something sweet on the way.

Who we are

We are Tasty Nation, a 100% vegetarian dessert brand from Chennai. Belgian waffles, thickshakes, sundaes, boba shakes, pancakes, brownies and hot chocolate: 85+ items on one menu. We opened at Kay Food Street, Pallikaranai in December 2023, and today we also run a food-court counter at Vivira Mall on OMR. Same recipes, two very different formats, so we can tell you honestly what each one is like to run. Tasty Nation® is a registered trademark (Licence No. 6368235). More about our franchise programme · see the menu.

Why a dessert outlet, and why you can do it

  • People love sweet desserts. A waffle or a thickshake is an everyday treat for every age in Sivaganga, not something saved for a festival.
  • Almost no waste. Food waste is one of the biggest problems in the food business. A Tasty Nation outlet has almost none.
  • Just 2 days of training. You, or anyone you hire, can start working after two days with us. No previous food, kitchen or business experience needed.
