Tasty Nation desserts

Walk down West Car Street on a Saturday evening and you'll see Virudhunagar at its busiest — gold shops lit up, saree stores full, families bargaining two shops at a time — and not one proper dessert counter to send them to afterwards. We're looking for one person from this town, who already knows these streets, to open that counter as our Tasty Nation franchise partner here.

Why we want to be on West Car Street

You know Main Bazaar on a Saturday evening — bikes parked three deep, saree shops with their lights on, somebody's mother haggling over the gold rate two shops down. Right next to all that is VHNSN College and VVV College, with thousands of students pouring out every afternoon looking for somewhere to sit for twenty minutes before their bus. Virudhunagar has bakeries on every second street already, several pulling in thousands of Google reviews between them — so we know this town eats out and shares a sweet without thinking twice. What it doesn't have, going by what actually shows up when you search, is one place that does waffles, thickshakes, sundaes and boba shakes properly, all under one roof. That gap is why we're looking here.

Who's actually walking past

Think about who's on the road near the Old Bus Stand after 6 PM — VVV girls finishing their last bus, VHNSN boys cutting through Link Road, office staff from the Kachery Road stretch heading home. On weekends it's a different crowd: families coming from the Mariamman Temple, or from a wedding hall off Aruppukottai Road, looking for somewhere to sit the kids down before the drive home. Nobody here is chasing anything fancy. They just want a place that's open, cool inside, and has something sweet worth stopping for.

What the bakery crowd here already tells us

You don't need a survey to know Virudhunagar has a sweet tooth. Several bakeries and cafés here already cross a thousand Google reviews at well above a 4-star rating. A small local ice-cream counter runs at a near-perfect rating even with customers asking it to add proper seating, and general cafés nearby already sell a waffle or two alongside their coffee and sandwiches — proof people order it the moment it's on a menu. But search this town for a shop that does only desserts — waffles, milkshakes, boba, sundaes — and nothing dedicated comes up. People love a sweet dessert everywhere, including right here in Virudhunagar, and nobody local has built a place entirely around it yet.

Where in town this could work

These are the stretches a Virudhunagar partner would already know well:

  • Main Bazaar / West Car Street (standalone outlet): Shoppers and families out for textiles, gold and groceries, evenings and weekends. The busiest shopping stretch in town, with nowhere to sit for a dessert afterwards
  • Link Road, Professors Colony, Anna Nagar (standalone outlet): VHNSN and VVV College students after class, young crowd in the evenings. Cafés here already sell waffles as a side item, showing the demand is real
  • Old Bus Stand, Railway Feeder Road (standalone outlet): Commuters, bus travellers and the late-night parotta crowd. Steady footfall all day from buses in and out, still busy well past dinner
  • Madurai Road near the New Bus Stand (standalone outlet): Highway travellers and families stopping before Madurai or Tirunelveli. Family restaurants here already pull a dining crowd that would welcome a dessert stop

Standalone, not a mall counter

Virudhunagar doesn't have the kind of mall our food-court format needs — ask anyone here and they'll point you to Main Bazaar, not a mall. So for this town the fit is our standalone outlet format: your own four walls, your own counter, run the way our Kay Food Street outlet in Chennai runs. It works facing a market street, a college road, or a bus stand — any of the spots above.

Who we're looking for in Virudhunagar

  • Someone who already knows this town — which street gets busy when, where the VHNSN and VVV crowd actually goes after class
  • Can be at the counter every single day, not drop in once a week
  • Likes talking to people — students, families, the regular who comes back for the same shake every evening
  • Has a site in mind, or a strong idea of one, around Main Bazaar, the college road or the bus stand areas
  • Willing to follow our recipes and process exactly as taught — no previous food, kitchen or business experience needed

What we bring, what you bring

We teach you every recipe and every process hands-on at our Chennai outlets — just 2 days of training, and you're ready to run the counter yourself. From there it's a discovery call, a site evaluation of the spot you've picked in Virudhunagar, help with setup, and ongoing support after that — ingredient sourcing, marketing materials, the works. And because a Tasty Nation outlet runs with almost no food waste, one of the biggest headaches in this business barely touches you here.

Questions about a franchise in Virudhunagar

Is there a mall in Virudhunagar for a food-court counter?

Not the kind our food-court format needs. For Virudhunagar we'd set up our standalone outlet format instead, on a street like Main Bazaar or near the college road.

Do I need bakery or dessert-making experience, given how many bakeries Virudhunagar already has?

No. Training is 2 days, hands-on at our Chennai outlets, and covers every recipe and process. People with zero food background run our counters.

How far is Chennai for the training, and does that matter?

It's roughly a 7-8 hour drive or a direct train ride. The training itself is only 2 days, and you head back running your own outlet.

Will a Virudhunagar outlet get support during big local events like Panguni Pongal?

Our catering and event dessert stall option covers weddings, apartment events and functions, so festival-season demand doesn't just walk past your counter.

Which crowd should I plan for first — students or families?

Both show up, at different times. College students fill the afternoon and early evening; families come out after a temple visit or a weekend trip to Main Bazaar.

Who we are

We are Tasty Nation, a 100% vegetarian dessert brand from Chennai. Belgian waffles, thickshakes, sundaes, boba shakes, pancakes, brownies and hot chocolate: 85+ items on one menu. We opened at Kay Food Street, Pallikaranai in December 2023, and today we also run a food-court counter at Vivira Mall on OMR. Same recipes, two very different formats, so we can tell you honestly what each one is like to run. Tasty Nation® is a registered trademark (Licence No. 6368235). Why a dessert outlet, and why you can do it

  • People love sweet desserts. A waffle or a thickshake is an everyday treat for every age in Virudhunagar, not something saved for a festival.
  • Almost no waste. Food waste is one of the biggest problems in the food business. A Tasty Nation outlet has almost none.
  • Just 2 days of training. You, or anyone you hire, can start working after two days with us. No previous food, kitchen or business experience needed.
