Tasty Nation desserts

You know Avadi Check Post, right? Stand there on a Saturday evening and watch who crosses: an HVF family out for their walk, a bunch of Vel Tech students arguing over cricket with a glass of tea, a nungu cart doing brisk business, and now an IT badge from TIDEL Park wondering where to eat before heading home. We want to open a Tasty Nation with someone who already belongs to one of these crowds — because right now, nobody in Avadi is serving all of them one proper dessert menu.

A Dessert Isn't a Once-a-Year Thing Here Either

When was the last time you waited for a special occasion to eat something sweet? Probably never. Same story in Avadi. A Vel Tech student grabs a cold coffee after a tough practical. An HVF uncle picks up something sweet on his evening walk back from Paruthipattu. A TIDEL Park employee wants a treat between two meetings. That's really the whole reason we're looking at this town — not because it's special, but because it's exactly like every other place: people here love their sweets, every single day.

Who's Actually Walking Past

Picture NM Road after 6pm — tea stalls full, a biryani tawa smoking, the smell of kothu parotta being chopped on a hot iron plate. Walk a little further and you hit Camp Road, where it suddenly goes quiet — that's HVF and OCF territory, defence families who've been here for generations. Head the other way towards Vel Tech Road and you'll see students deciding, every single evening, between a tea-kada glass of chai or something cold and sweet. And now there's a newer crowd too: IT folks stepping out of TIDEL Park in Pattabiram, still hunting for their regular spot — you know that feeling when a new office opens nearby and everyone's asking each other where to eat?

On a blazing afternoon you'll see people pull over for nungu off a pushcart, or duck in somewhere for a Rose Milk or a Jigarthanda. That craving for something cold and sweet never goes away here — someone's going to end up being the regular stop for it.

What Check Post Already Tells You

Walk down NM Road and start counting bakeries — you'll lose count before you hit ten. A cake shop near Kannigapuram has built up close to a thousand Google reviews, almost all five stars. The ice cream shop opposite Meenakshi Hospital is nearly there too. A cake shop near Kovil Pathagai has crossed a thousand reviews on its own. That's not luck — that's Avadi telling you it already has a sweet tooth. Two waffle brands have already opened branches here, one right on NM Road and one in Paruthipet, so the town is clearly ready to queue for a waffle the way it already queues for a cake. But look closer: one shop does cakes, one does waffles, one does ice cream. Nobody's doing sundaes, thickshakes, boba and brownies under the same roof — that's the gap we'd be filling. And here's something you'll come to appreciate once you're running it: a dessert counter like this throws away almost nothing by closing time.

Where We'd Actually Put It

You already know these stretches — you walk past them every week. Below is where the footfall is already happening, every single day. You'd know better than us which side of the road to pick.

  • NM Road (New Military Road), Kannigapuram–Thirumalai Rajapuram stretch (standalone outlet): Evening walkers, tea-stall regulars and bakery/waffle-shop customers from 5pm to late night. Avadi's own food street — already the busiest dessert footfall in town by evening.
  • Avadi Railway Station & bus terminus junction, Chennai–Thiruvallur High Road (standalone outlet): Daily commuters and students catching a train or bus home. A steady walk-past crowd every single evening, not just weekends.
  • Vel Tech Road / Veltech Junction college belt (standalone outlet): Vel Tech, St. Peter's and Murugappa Polytechnic students after class. Thousands of students deciding what to eat before their bus, every weekday.
  • Pattabiram, near TIDEL Park (mall food-court counter): IT employees on lunch and evening breaks, still forming their food habits. A brand-new office crowd that hasn't fixed its regular dessert stop yet.

Standalone Shop, or a Counter Near TIDEL Park?

We only build Tasty Nation in two shapes: a standalone shop you run full-time, like our very first outlet in Pallikaranai, or a small counter inside a mall or food court, like the one we run at Vivira Mall on OMR. Avadi doesn't have a big mall yet, so for most of the town a standalone shop makes more sense — right on NM Road, near the station, or near the college belt. The one place a counter could work is TIDEL Park's own food court, once that office crowd settles into a routine. We'll figure out which shape fits your spot on the discovery call.

Who We're Looking For

We don't need you to have run a food business before. We need you to already belong in Avadi.

  • You know, without checking Maps, which side of NM Road gets busy after 7pm.
  • You — or someone you trust completely — can be at the counter every single day.
  • You like people. You'll remember the regulars' names within a month.
  • You already have a spot in mind, or a good idea where to look.
  • You're happy to follow our recipes exactly as we teach them — that's what keeps the brand consistent.

No food, kitchen or business experience needed. Genuinely none.

What You Get From Us

We teach you everything, hands-on, at our own Chennai outlets before you open. Training takes just two days — two days, and you're ready to run the counter, whatever you did before this. After that we don't disappear: we help with ingredient sourcing, marketing material, and we're there through site evaluation and setup too. Message us on WhatsApp and we'll set up a call — investment and area numbers are things we talk through there, not here.

Questions about a franchise in Avadi

Avadi already has so many bakeries — is there really room for one more?

Those bakeries are proof people here already buy dessert every week. But each one does only one thing well — cakes, or waffles, or ice cream. We'd be the one place doing every dessert well.

Standalone shop or a mall counter — which one for Avadi?

Since there's no big mall yet, a standalone shop on a street like NM Road or near the station usually works better. A counter really only makes sense once the TIDEL Park food court crowd settles in.

Will Vel Tech and St. Peter's students actually show up on a Tuesday, not just weekends?

That's exactly who a spot near the college belt is for — students want something after class most weekdays, not only Saturdays.

I already have a full-time job — can I still do this?

You, or someone you fully trust, needs to be there every single day. So this works best as your main focus, not a side project.

Do I need experience running a food business?

No. Training takes just two days and that's enough, whatever your background.

What about the new TIDEL Park crowd in Pattabiram — good bet right now?

Promising, yes — they haven't picked their regular dessert stop yet. We'd look at it as a food-court counter once their lunch and evening rhythm settles.

Who we are

We are Tasty Nation, a 100% vegetarian dessert brand from Chennai. Belgian waffles, thickshakes, sundaes, boba shakes, pancakes, brownies and hot chocolate: 85+ items on one menu. We opened at Kay Food Street, Pallikaranai in December 2023, and today we also run a food-court counter at Vivira Mall on OMR. Same recipes, two very different formats, so we can tell you honestly what each one is like to run. Tasty Nation® is a registered trademark (Licence No. 6368235). More about our franchise programme · see the menu.

Why a dessert outlet, and why you can do it

  • People love sweet desserts. A waffle or a thickshake is an everyday treat for every age in Avadi, not something saved for a festival.
  • Almost no waste. Food waste is one of the biggest problems in the food business. A Tasty Nation outlet has almost none.
  • Just 2 days of training. You, or anyone you hire, can start working after two days with us. No previous food, kitchen or business experience needed.
