Tasty Nation desserts

Stand at the Gobi bus stand on Sathy Main Road any evening and watch what people are holding — an ice cream cup, a cold juice, a cake box tied with string. Turmeric traders stepping off a lorry near Katchery Medu, college kids waiting for their bus, families headed home from the market: Gobichettipalayam doesn't have a mall, but it runs on sweet stops all day long. We're looking for a franchise partner to bring Tasty Nation into that daily rush — because right now, that craving is being met by a dozen small, separate shops, not one place doing every dessert well.

Gobi already queues up for dessert — just not in one place

Walk from Periyar Thidal down Katchery Street and count the shops: an ice cream parlour here, a cake counter there, a bakery doing steady trade since before most of us were born. We looked at what Gobi already supports, and it's more than you'd expect for a town this size — well over a dozen ice cream, cake and bakery counters are active across V.P. Main Road, Mill Road and the market belt, a few of them carrying thousands of Google reviews between them. That's not one-off festival buying. That's people stopping for a scoop or a slice on an ordinary Tuesday, the way Gobi has always treated dessert — as something for everyone, every day, not a once-a-year indulgence.

Who's actually walking past

Three different crowds move through Gobi every day, and all three stop for something sweet. There's the market and turmeric-trade crowd around Katchery Medu and Periyar Thidal, in and out between deals. There's the transit crowd at the bus stand on Sathy Main Road — commuters, students changing buses, people with twenty minutes to spare. And there's the college crowd around Gobi Arts and Science College on Sathy Road, who already treat the tea stalls and ice cream counters near the campus gate as their after-class spot. None of these three groups are waiting for a special occasion — they're just looking for a reason to stop walking for five minutes.

What the map already tells us

We checked what Gobi searches for online, and the gaps are clear. Search for a waffle shop near Gobichettipalayam and nothing dedicated turns up inside the town — the nearest waffle specialists are about 35 km away in Erode city. Search for bubble tea and you get almost nothing either; it shows up as a single item on one tea stall's menu, not a shop built around it. Milkshakes and sundaes are everywhere, but spread across general ice cream parlours and juice shops rather than one proper dessert menu. Meanwhile the shops that are already here are doing real numbers — a bakery with over a thousand reviews, a cake-and-cafe spot with hundreds more, an ice cream counter right on the college campus holding a perfect rating. The appetite in Gobi is already proven. Nobody's built the one-stop version of it yet.

Four stretches we'd start scouting

If you know Gobi, you already know these corners. Here's where we'd start looking for a site, and who you'd be serving at each one.

  • Katchery Street / Periyar Thidal (near the old court ground) (standalone outlet): Market-goers, bank and government-office staff, evening strollers around Periyar Thidal. Already the town's thickest cluster of ice cream and cake shops, with people moving through all day
  • Opposite the Gobi bus stand, Sathy Main Road (standalone outlet): Bus passengers, daily commuters, students changing buses between town and surrounding villages. The one junction in Gobi nobody skips — people already stop here for a quick snack or drink
  • Sathy Road near Gobi Arts and Science College, Lakkampatti (standalone outlet): College students before, between and after classes. A compact counter would fit right into the small cluster of tea and ice cream stops students already walk to daily
  • Mill Road / Modachur Road, Cheran Nagar (standalone outlet): Families buying bread, cakes and festive sweets; residential footfall. A recognised bakery belt in Gobi where households already shop for something sweet

Counter or standalone — what fits Gobi

Tasty Nation runs two formats: a standalone outlet, run the way our Pallikaranai outlet works, and a compact counter inside a mall or food court, the way our OMR outlet works. Gobi doesn't have a large mall yet, so for now the standalone outlet — on a street with its own daily footfall, not tucked inside someone else's building — is the format that actually fits the town. That could be a shop near the bus stand, a spot on the Katchery Street stretch, or a small outlet close to the college gate. Which one makes sense depends on what site you can actually get your hands on, and that's exactly what the discovery call and site evaluation are for.

Who we're hoping finds this page

  • Someone who already knows Gobi's streets — which junction gets busy at 5pm, which lane the college crowd actually uses
  • Someone who can be at the counter every single day, not just drop in on weekends
  • Someone who genuinely likes talking to customers — traders, students, families, all in the same hour
  • Someone who has a site in mind near the bus stand, the market, or the college, or is actively looking for one
  • Someone willing to follow our recipes and our standards exactly as taught — no previous food, kitchen or business experience needed

What you'd get from us before opening day

We teach you every recipe and every process ourselves, hands-on, at our own outlets in Chennai, over two days — enough for anyone to start working the counter confidently, whatever they did before. After that, support doesn't stop: we help with ingredient sourcing and give you marketing material, the same way we run our own two outlets. One thing worth knowing before you start: food waste is one of the biggest headaches in this business almost everywhere, and a Tasty Nation outlet runs with almost none of it. The path from here is simple — you enquire, we get on a call to talk through the format and the site, we evaluate the location together, then we set up and train before you open.

Questions about a franchise in Gobichettipalayam

Is Gobichettipalayam really big enough for a dessert brand like Tasty Nation?

Yes — the town already keeps more than a dozen ice cream parlours, bakeries and cake shops busy, with thousands of Google reviews between them. The demand is there; it's just spread thin across small shops instead of one place doing everything well.

Which part of town should I think about first?

Start with where people already pause — the Gobi bus stand on Sathy Main Road, Katchery Street near Periyar Thidal, or the stretch near Gobi Arts and Science College. All three see daily footfall, not just weekend crowds.

I've never run a food business. Can I still do this?

Yes. Training takes just two days at our Chennai outlets, and that's enough to start working the counter — no previous food, kitchen or business experience is needed.

Does Gobi even have a mall-type space for the food-court format?

Not really — Gobi doesn't have a large mall yet, so a standalone outlet on a busy street or near the college is the format that fits the town today.

Will students actually spend on desserts here, or is it mostly families?

Both. The tea stalls and ice cream counters near Gobi Arts and Science College already see steady student traffic after class, alongside families out for an evening walk near the market or the bus stand.

Who we are

We are Tasty Nation, a 100% vegetarian dessert brand from Chennai. Belgian waffles, thickshakes, sundaes, boba shakes, pancakes, brownies and hot chocolate: 85+ items on one menu. We opened at Kay Food Street, Pallikaranai in December 2023, and today we also run a food-court counter at Vivira Mall on OMR. Same recipes, two very different formats, so we can tell you honestly what each one is like to run. Tasty Nation® is a registered trademark (Licence No. 6368235). More about our franchise programme · see the menu.

Why a dessert outlet, and why you can do it

  • People love sweet desserts. A waffle or a thickshake is an everyday treat for every age in Gobichettipalayam, not something saved for a festival.
  • Almost no waste. Food waste is one of the biggest problems in the food business. A Tasty Nation outlet has almost none.
  • Just 2 days of training. You, or anyone you hire, can start working after two days with us. No previous food, kitchen or business experience needed.
