We want to open a Tasty Nation in Guduvanchery, and if you live here you probably already know why: this is a town where everyone is in motion — students pouring out of the SRM gate, Zoho staff on a short break, a train emptying out at the station every twenty minutes — and most of them want something sweet and cold within five minutes of stepping off GST Road. We haven't found one shop yet doing all of that, every single day, under one roof.
Say 'Guduvanchery' to anyone in Chennai and the first picture in their head is GST Road — bikes, buses and lorries nose to tail, and somewhere in that chaos, the stretch near Potheri everyone just calls the Food Street — it carries over 3,100 Google reviews as a whole, averaging 4.2 stars. That tells us the appetite for a good dessert here is real and already proven — people drive up to that one stretch specifically for something sweet, they don't stumble onto it.
What we don't see yet is one place doing every kind of dessert well. The waffle shop does waffles, the bubble tea cart does bubble tea, the bakery does cakes — want a thickshake and a waffle and a brownie on the same table, and you're walking between three counters. That's exactly the gap Tasty Nation is built to close.
Guduvanchery runs on three clocks that barely overlap. Mornings and office hours belong to the crowd heading into Estancia IT Park on GST Road for their Zoho shift — quick, quiet, in and out. Afternoons and evenings belong to SRM and the hostels around Kattankulathur and Potheri, spilling onto the Food Street the minute the last class ends. And from about 6 pm, the EMU trains start emptying out at Guduvancheri station and Nandivaram's Station Road fills up with people walking home after a day in the city. Three different crowds, three different reasons to want a dessert — a student after an exam, an office group before the bus, a family on the walk back from the station.
People in Guduvanchery already treat dessert as a Tuesday thing, not just a birthday thing. Ask anyone at SRM and they'll tell you a stop at the Food Street after an exam or a boring lecture is routine, not an occasion. That habit is already built into the town — we'd just be handing it a bigger menu under one roof: waffles, thickshakes, boba, brownies, hot chocolate, instead of one shop per craving.
And because food waste is one of the biggest problems any food business fights, it matters that a Tasty Nation outlet runs with almost none of it — one less thing to worry about while you're also managing GST Road rent and footfall that rises and falls with the college calendar.
We're not fixed on one spot — tell us which of these feels right for you and we'll work through it on the call.
Guduvanchery doesn't have an enclosed mall yet, so right now this would be a standalone outlet — your own small kitchen and counter, dine-in or takeaway, run the way our Kay Food Street shop in Pallikaranai operates. If a proper food-court format ever opens nearby, the lighter, quick-service counter format we run at Vivira Mall would fit just as well.
You don't need to have run a shop before. We teach everything hands-on at our own outlets in Chennai in just two days — every recipe, every process — and after that you're ready to run the counter yourself. From there we stay involved: sourcing the same ingredients, sharing marketing material, helping with the setup, the same support we give our two Chennai outlets. The next step is a discovery call, then we look at your site together, and you move into training.
Because none of those shops does every kind of dessert — waffles, thickshakes, boba, brownies and hot chocolate — under one roof. That's the gap we fill, not a fight for the same customer.
No. SRM students are one part of it, but Guduvanchery also has Zoho's office crowd on GST Road and families coming home through the railway station every evening — three different kinds of footfall, not one.
No. Training takes just two days at our Chennai outlets, and it's built for someone starting from zero.
It's the reason there's footfall at all — the road is never empty, and a shop that's easy to stop at on the way past does well, which is why the existing Food Street shops stay busy.
That depends on what you can access and run daily — we'll talk through all of it on the discovery call.
Right now it would be a standalone outlet, since Guduvanchery doesn't have an enclosed mall yet.
