Tasty Nation desserts

We're looking for a franchise partner in Tambaram — someone who already knows the walk from the railway station to Mudichur Road better than any map does. This is a town where the bus terminus crowd, the MCC college crowd and the Gandhi Road shopping crowd all want something sweet and cold, but at different hours of the same day, and from what we've seen on the ground here, hardly anyone is set up to serve all three well under one name. We want one partner who can.

Why we're looking at Tambaram

You know how it is here — nobody just "visits" Tambaram, everyone is either coming from the station, going to the station, or avoiding the station traffic by cutting through Mudichur Road. That alone tells you something: this is a town that moves all day, every day. The railway station runs like its own little city within the city — ticket counters busy from morning to the last train, autos and buses queued right outside — and it never really has a quiet hour. Add the MEPZ and MCC crowd pouring through West Tambaram on one side, and the East Tambaram–Selaiyur stretch filling up with new apartments on the other, and you get a town that never really slows down. A dessert shop that's open when the 9 PM train crowd comes out, not just when a mall decides to open, has a real shot here.

Who actually walks in

Think about who's really around. There's the MCC crowd — Madras Christian College alone has around 8,500 students on that huge green campus in East Tambaram, and after their last class they're not rushing home, they're looking for somewhere to sit with friends for an hour. There's the GST Road office crowd, commuting past the IT and SEZ parks near Guduvancheri and Perungalathur every day, tired and looking for a quick stop on the way back. There's the family that just moved into one of the new flats off Mudichur Road or near Selaiyur, still figuring out where "their" evening spot is going to be. And there's the plain old station crowd — people with twenty minutes to kill before their train, who'll always say yes to something cold.

What the dessert crowd here already tells us

Tambaram is not short on sweet tooths. The ice cream counter on Kakkan Street alone has racked up close to 1,600 Google reviews, and a cake shop on the same road has over 1,700 — that's not a sleepy market, that's a town that orders cake and ice cream constantly. But look closer and you'll see the gaps. Most of the waffle places around Mudichur Road carry a real mix of reviews — some people loving the taste, others complaining about soggy waffles or a 45-minute wait — which tells you quality isn't consistent yet. The cake shops mostly also sell non-veg snacks and pizza alongside the cakes, and a reviewer has mentioned being handed the wrong order because of it — not something a strictly vegetarian family wants to risk on a child's birthday cake. And boba tea is still new enough here that one shop in East Tambaram gets called "the first boba shop in Tambaram" by its own customers. Nobody local is doing waffles, shakes, boba and sundaes all under one roof, to one standard, every single day.

Where this could actually sit

A few stretches of Tambaram already pull the kind of footfall a dessert counter needs — here's where we'd look first.

  • Tambaram Railway Station & West Tambaram bus terminus (standalone outlet): commuters and bus-stand regulars from early morning to late night. A transit crowd that's there every single hour the trains and buses run
  • Gandhi Road, West Tambaram (standalone outlet): families out for evening shopping, especially weekends. Tambaram's own busy shopping street, already pulling footfall after 6 PM
  • Near MCC campus, East Tambaram (Vinoba Nagar / IAF Road stretch) (standalone outlet): college students straight after class. A steady student crowd looking for somewhere to sit for an hour before heading home
  • Mudichur Road, West Tambaram (standalone outlet): evening and late-night eat-out crowd, families and young couples. The road that lights up every night with eateries, already trained to stop and eat here

Standalone kitchen or mall counter — both work here

Tambaram genuinely supports both of our formats. Near the station, Mudichur Road or the MCC side, a standalone outlet makes sense — the kind of all-day, dine-in-and-takeaway setup we run at Kay Food Street in Pallikaranai. If a retail or food-court space opens up right here in Tambaram — near the station or on Gandhi Road — a compact counter, run the way our Vivira Mall outlet operates, fits just as well. Which one suits you depends on the site you can get and the budget you're working with, and that's exactly what we talk through on the call.

Who we're hoping finds this page

  • Someone who already knows Tambaram — not from a map, but from actually living the station-to-Mudichur-Road routine
  • Someone who can be at the counter or checking in on it every single day, not just on weekends
  • Someone who likes talking to people — the MCC students, the office crowd, the family stopping by after a train — not just running numbers
  • Someone who has, or is actively looking at, a site in West Tambaram, East Tambaram/Selaiyur, or in a shopping complex right here in Tambaram
  • Someone willing to follow our recipes and our standards exactly as taught — no previous food, kitchen or business experience needed, we'll train you

What you'd get from us

Here's why this works in any town, Tambaram included: a dessert isn't a once-a-year treat for people — every one of those crowds we just talked about wants something sweet on an ordinary day, not just birthdays, at every age. That's what keeps a counter busy all week, not only on weekends. Every recipe and process we run in our own two Chennai outlets, documented and taught to you hands-on at those outlets — training takes just 2 days, and you don't need to have run a kitchen or a shop before. One more thing that matters once you're actually running the counter: food waste is one of the biggest problems in this business, and a Tasty Nation outlet has almost none of it. After that, support keeps going: ingredient sourcing, marketing materials, the same backing we give our own two stores. The next step, if this sounds like your town, is a simple one — enquire, get on a discovery call with us, we evaluate the site together, then set up and train. Investment and the exact area needed are things we talk through on that call, not something we put in writing here.

Questions about a franchise in Tambaram

Does Tasty Nation already have an outlet near Tambaram?

Our two outlets today are at Kay Food Street, Pallikaranai, and Vivira Mall on OMR — both a drive away from Tambaram. That's exactly why we're looking for a partner to open here.

Which format suits Tambaram better, a standalone outlet or a mall counter?

Both have a real case here — a standalone outlet near the station, Mudichur Road or MCC, or a food-court counter if a mall or large retail space opens up in Tambaram itself. We'll help you decide based on the site you bring to the call.

Do I need restaurant or retail experience to run this?

No. Training takes just 2 days at our Chennai outlets, and it's built for people with no previous food, kitchen or business experience.

I don't have a site yet — can I still apply?

Yes. Having a site or a strong lead on one helps, but the first step is just the discovery call; we evaluate locations together after that.

How does Tasty Nation handle vegetarian-only families, given how mixed-up orders can get at some shops here?

Every single item on our menu, at both our outlets, is 100% vegetarian — there's no non-veg counter or kitchen to worry about mixing up.

What's the investment to open in Tambaram?

That's discussed one-to-one on the discovery call, since it depends on the format and site — not something we quote in writing.

Who we are

We are Tasty Nation, a 100% vegetarian dessert brand from Chennai. Belgian waffles, thickshakes, sundaes, boba shakes, pancakes, brownies and hot chocolate: 85+ items on one menu. We opened at Kay Food Street, Pallikaranai in December 2023, and today we also run a food-court counter at Vivira Mall on OMR. Same recipes, two very different formats, so we can tell you honestly what each one is like to run. Tasty Nation® is a registered trademark (Licence No. 6368235). More about our franchise programme · see the menu.

Why a dessert outlet, and why you can do it

  • People love sweet desserts. A waffle or a thickshake is an everyday treat for every age in Tambaram, not something saved for a festival.
  • Almost no waste. Food waste is one of the biggest problems in the food business. A Tasty Nation outlet has almost none.
  • Just 2 days of training. You, or anyone you hire, can start working after two days with us. No previous food, kitchen or business experience needed.
