Tenkasi has three crowds that never meet anywhere nice: the techies walking out of the software offices in Kuthukalvalasai every evening, the students from the engineering and arts colleges killing time before their bus home, and the families and pilgrims who come for the Kasi Viswanathar koil or a Courtallam trip and need somewhere to sit for twenty minutes. We are looking for a franchise partner who already knows these crowds and wants to give them one proper place for a dessert, instead of three different small shops. Nobody in Tenkasi today is doing Belgian waffles, boba shakes and sundaes under one roof — you'd be the first.
Walk past the Kasi Viswanathar koil on a Masi Magam day, or stand near the SBI junction on the Tirunelveli road during Courtallam season, and you'll see it — crowds of people with nowhere particular to sit. Pilgrims who came for the temple, families heading up to the falls for the day, and the office crowd from Kuthukalvalasai walking home at the same time every evening. Tenkasi has no shortage of people wanting a sweet treat and a place to sit for half an hour; what it doesn't have is one place that does every kind of dessert well.
Think about who's already moving through town every single day. There are the techies finishing work at the software offices in Kuthukalvalasai, wanting something cold before heading home. There are students from the engineering college at Ayakudy and the arts colleges around town, who cut through between classes and bus timings. There are families who come in from the villages around for a market day or a temple visit, and tourists who stop in Tenkasi on their way to or from Courtallam. For every one of them, a sweet dessert isn't a special-occasion thing — in Tenkasi too, it's what you grab on an ordinary evening, the same way you'd grab tea.
We looked at what's already running in Tenkasi. Home bakeries are strong — one home-bakery-turned-shop has built up over 220 reviews at a 4.9 rating, and another home baker has 173 reviews at a perfect 5 — so people here clearly order cakes and pay for quality. The one proper ice-cream chain outlet in town has pulled in over 800 reviews, more than any other dessert business we found, which tells you there's real appetite for a sit-down dessert spot and not just home delivery. But nobody has brought waffles, milkshakes, boba shakes and sundaes together under one roof — a couple of small cafés are doing a bit of it on their own, but with only 15 to 23 reviews between them, they're small, early attempts, not a real dessert destination yet. That gap is what we'd be filling.
A few stretches of Tenkasi already pull the crowd together — here's where we'd start looking with you.
We run two formats — a standalone outlet like our Kay Food Street store, and a compact mall or food-court counter like our Vivira Mall spot. Tenkasi doesn't have a mall yet, so this would be a standalone outlet: your own frontage on one of the stretches below, open to walk-ins straight off the road.
Once we agree to work together, you get every recipe and process we use, taught hands-on at our Chennai outlets before you open in Tenkasi — and training takes just two days, so whoever runs your counter can start without ever having worked in food before. We also help with ingredient sourcing and give you marketing materials, and the process is simple: you enquire, we get on a discovery call, we evaluate the site you're looking at, then we move to setup and training. One more thing worth knowing if you haven't run a food business before — food waste is one of the biggest headaches in this trade, and a Tasty Nation outlet has almost none of it.
Tenkasi already has reviews in the hundreds for its cake shops and its one ice-cream chain outlet — the appetite for sweet desserts is clearly there, it just hasn't been brought together in one place yet.
The falls bring an extra wave of visitors in those months, but the temple crowd, the students and the software-office crowd are in Tenkasi all year round, so the stretches we'd look at don't depend on the falls alone.
Tenkasi doesn't have a mall yet, so a standalone outlet on one of the busy stretches — near the SBI junction, the bus stand, or the Kuthukalvalasai office cluster — is the fit here.
Yes — training takes just two days and is taught hands-on at our Chennai outlets, and no previous food, kitchen or business experience is needed.
You enquire with us, we do a discovery call, we evaluate the site you're considering, and then move to setup and training before you open.
