Tasty Nation desserts

We're looking for a franchise partner right here in Arakkonam, and the reason is sitting at your own junction. Every single day thousands of people pass through it — railway staff, Navy families from INS Rajali, Sri Krishna College students waiting for the next bus to Ranipet or Vellore — and once the afternoon heat sets in, almost nobody in that crowd has a proper place to sit down and cool off with something sweet. That's the gap we want to fill, with you running it.

Why we keep coming back to Arakkonam

Think about what actually runs this town. Every few minutes another train pulls through the Junction, and right next to it, loco shed and workshop staff clock in and out on shift timings that shape when half the town eats and steps out. On weekends you'll see Navy families from INS Rajali driving in for a change of scene. Add the daily crowd from MRF, Ramco and UltraTech, plus the college crowd down the Tiruttani road, and you get a town that works hard and studies hard, through afternoons hot enough that everyone's looking for something cold. A dessert here isn't a once-a-year treat. It's what a loco shed worker wants after a double shift, what a student wants after an exam, what a mother picks up on the walk back from the market. That's true in Arakkonam just as much as anywhere else — people love something sweet and cold, every single day, at every age.

Who you'd actually see walk in

Picture a weekday evening near the Junction. Loco shed and workshop staff finishing a shift, drifting toward Gandhi Road for a bite before the bus home to Winterpet or Suvalpet. Sri Krishna College and Jaya Group students who've just got off their last class, standing around the New Bus Stand in Balaji Nagar, killing twenty minutes before a bus to Ranipet or Vellore. Families from the Housing Board colony near the Indira Gandhi Statue, out for an evening walk, deciding between the usual bakery and something new. And on weekends, Navy families from INS Rajali driving in for shopping on Bazaar Street, who don't mind paying a bit more for a place that feels a notch above the regular tea stall.

What we found when we looked — and what's missing

Arakkonam already knows how to queue for something sweet. The town's biggest bakery counter alone carries over 1,400 Google reviews at a 4.3 rating, and a second branch of the same kind of shop is close behind it — that's not small-town traffic, that's a town that treats dessert as a daily habit, not an occasion. The ice cream parlours around town are all sitting above a 4.4 rating too. What we didn't find was anyone doing the full range well: only one waffle counter in the whole town, and its own reviews complain about the quality and the price. No boba tea anywhere. No proper thickshake or sundae counter either. That's the gap — not whether Arakkonam eats dessert, but whether anyone's giving it a dessert worth repeating. And because a Tasty Nation outlet makes almost no food waste, running one day to day skips the stock-wastage headache a lot of small food businesses here quietly deal with.

Where in town this could actually sit

You know these streets better than we ever will — here's what we noticed from the outside.

  • Gandhi Road (standalone outlet): evening shoppers, bakery-and-jewellery-shop crowd, families out after work. it's already where Arakkonam's bakeries and cake shops cluster, so the habit of stepping out for something sweet already exists here
  • Housing Board Main Road, near the Indira Gandhi Statue (standalone outlet): families, evening walkers, the colony's regular bakery crowd. sits right next to the town's busiest bakery counter, on a stretch families already visit for snacks
  • New Bus Stand, Balaji Nagar (standalone outlet): students waiting for buses to Ranipet, Vellore and Tiruvallur; daily commuters. heavy footfall of people with twenty minutes to spare and nothing to do with it
  • Arakkonam–Tiruttani Road college corridor (Sri Krishna College of Engineering) (standalone outlet): engineering and polytechnic students between classes and after. several colleges sit along this stretch and students currently just hang around tea stalls with nothing better

Standalone outlet or a counter — which fits Arakkonam

Arakkonam doesn't have a big mall yet, so the format that's proved itself here is the standalone outlet — like our own Kay Food Street store, a full counter and seating, built around your own footfall rather than someone else's crowd. If a bigger retail space with shared footfall ever opens up near Gandhi Road or the Housing Board stretch, a compact food-court-style counter becomes an option too. Either way, you tell us what your site can support, and we size the format to that.

Who we're looking for in Arakkonam

  • Someone who actually knows Arakkonam — which street gets busy at 6pm and which one empties out by 8
  • Someone who can be at the counter every single day, not just drop in once a week
  • Someone who likes talking to people — the loco shed regular, the college group, the Navy family on a Sunday
  • Someone who has, or can find, a spot in one of these areas — Gandhi Road, Housing Board, near the bus stand, near the colleges
  • Someone who'll follow our recipes and standards exactly, every single day

No food, kitchen or business background needed — we're not looking for a chef, we're looking for the right person.

What stands behind you if you say yes

You get every recipe and process we use at our own two Chennai outlets, taught to you hands-on — and it only takes 2 days before you're confident running the counter yourself. No previous food, kitchen or business experience required. After that it's a discovery call, a look at your site in Arakkonam, and ongoing support — from sourcing ingredients to the marketing material you put up outside your own shop. Investment and the exact area you'd need are things we go through properly on that call, city by city, not something we put in writing here.

Questions about a franchise in Arakkonam

Is Arakkonam too small a town for a dessert brand like this?

We don't think so — a railway junction town with a century-old workshop, a naval base and multiple colleges already has more daily footfall through it than plenty of bigger-looking towns. That's exactly why we're looking here.

Do I need any experience running a food business?

No. Training takes just 2 days at our Chennai outlets, and the recipes and process are taught hands-on — no previous food, kitchen or business experience is needed.

Which part of Arakkonam would you recommend?

That depends on your own access to a site — Gandhi Road, the Housing Board stretch, near the New Bus Stand, and the college corridor towards Tiruttani Road all came up as strong options in our own look at the town, but we'll talk specifics on the discovery call.

Does Arakkonam's heat actually help a dessert shop?

It helps footfall for anything cold, which is part of why we're interested — but we size up your actual site and area together on the call rather than guessing from outside.

What format works best here — standalone or a mall counter?

Arakkonam doesn't have a big mall yet, so a standalone outlet is the format that's proved itself in towns like this. If a bigger retail space opens up later, a food-court counter becomes an option too.

How do I start?

Message us on WhatsApp through this page. We'll set up a discovery call, look at your site, and walk you through training and setup from there.

Who we are

We are Tasty Nation, a 100% vegetarian dessert brand from Chennai. Belgian waffles, thickshakes, sundaes, boba shakes, pancakes, brownies and hot chocolate: 85+ items on one menu. We opened at Kay Food Street, Pallikaranai in December 2023, and today we also run a food-court counter at Vivira Mall on OMR. Same recipes, two very different formats, so we can tell you honestly what each one is like to run. Tasty Nation® is a registered trademark (Licence No. 6368235). More about our franchise programme · see the menu.

Why a dessert outlet, and why you can do it

  • People love sweet desserts. A waffle or a thickshake is an everyday treat for every age in Arakkonam, not something saved for a festival.
  • Almost no waste. Food waste is one of the biggest problems in the food business. A Tasty Nation outlet has almost none.
  • Just 2 days of training. You, or anyone you hire, can start working after two days with us. No previous food, kitchen or business experience needed.
